Staff Engineer / Principal Engineer / Full Stack Engineer
- Day rate: £550–£600/day (Outside IR35)
- Remote Working (UK)
- 6-month contract (with likely extension)
The Role
You will join a new innovation function that operates as the technical strikeforce for exploring emerging technologies, validating new product concepts and building rapid prototypes that influence long-term product direction.
In this hands-on role, you will experiment, iterate quickly, and design proofs-of-concept that demonstrate what’s possible with modern engineering and AI. You will work autonomously, own initiatives end-to-end, and thrive in problem spaces that aren’t fully defined yet.
What They’re Looking For (Non-Negotiables)
- TypeScript or JavaScript
- Python or Ruby
- Modern frontend framework expertise (React, Angular, or similar)
- RDBMS & SQL fluency
- ORM experience (e.g Prisma or similar)
- Strong full-stack engineering ability
- Ability to work in ambiguity and iterate rapidly
- Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Self-directed approach, comfortable operating without day-to-day oversight
What You’ll Work With
- TypeScript services and backend tools
- Python APIs (including FastAPI for certain streams)
- Angular and/or React frontends
- GCP-based data and storage workflows (anonymised cloud platform reference only)
- Prototyping frameworks, rapid experimentation and POCs
- AI-driven product concepts with external innovation partners
- Bridging validated prototypes into production alongside engineering squads
Nice to Haves
- Experience with cloud-based data architectures
- FastAPI development or similar
- Familiarity with dashboard or visualisation-heavy product workflows
- Exposure to AI-infused product development
- Experience working with complex or insights-driven datasets
