Our client, the UK's largest property services group, is on a transformative mission to modernise their platforms, drive innovation through automation, and become a tech-first leader in the real estate space. Backed by a major financial institution and with a brand-new, tech-committed CEO at the helm, this is a rare opportunity to lead platform reliability across a business that touches millions.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Platform Engineer to step into a leadership role at the heart of a major cloud transformation. As Lead Platform Engineer, you'll be instrumental in building and evolving a robust Microsoft Azure-based platform that supports critical digital journeys across a large-scale, enterprise environment.
Your core mission? Empower engineering teams to build, deploy, and run their services efficiently and securely by delivering an automated, resilient, and scalable platform. You'll lead by doing: hands-on coding, driving infrastructure-as-code best practices (especially with Terraform), and embedding DevSecOps principles throughout the delivery lifecycle.
The role spans orchestration, observability, security, cloud governance, CI/CD, and cost optimisation. You’ll also play a vital part in scaling the platform team intelligently, mentoring, upskilling, and guiding cross-functional engineers in a lean, high-impact setup.
Tech you'll use:
- Azure core services (Virtual Networks, VMs, Storage, App Services)
- Terraform (syntax, modules, state, workspaces)
- Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins
- Containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- PowerShell, Azure CLI, Bash
- Azure AD, RBAC, Key Vault
- Git (branching, merging, pull requests)
What you’ll do:
- Build and evolve a scalable internal platform for engineering teams
- Operate with a "you build it, you run it" approach across environments
- Lead on automation, security, and observability of platform services
- Code daily while scaling capability across the team
- Refine infrastructure via CI/CD and Terraform pipelines
- Collaborate with SRE, architecture, and onboarding teams
- Mentor engineers and support hiring into platform capability gaps
The Offer:
- 25 days holiday bank holidays
- 3% employer pension contribution
- Private medical care, Aviva GP access for family, subsidised lunch & free gym
- Free parking and shuttle bus from Milton Keynes train station if required
