Azure Platform Engineer | Azure, Terraform, Zero Trust | Secure-by-Design Transformation Project

The Role
You will join an established cloud engineering function as a contractor to deliver a critical programme of Azure security and Zero Trust remediations. This is an execution-focused role where you will hit the ground running against a clearly defined backlog, strengthening the organisation’s Azure security posture while ensuring production stability.
You will implement private networking patterns, harden identity and access controls, and upgrade key Azure services to modern security standards. Expect a mix of hands-on engineering, collaborative problem-solving, and representing changes through formal CAB processes.
What They’re Looking For (Non-Negotiables)
- Azure platform engineering expertise across production environments
- Azure IAM: Azure AD, managed identities, RBAC, conditional access
- Azure Private Endpoints and private networking architecture experience
- Terraform development: writing, testing, maintaining modules and IaC workflows
- Experience implementing Zero Trust design patterns in cloud environments
- Excellent communication skills and confidence collaborating with senior stakeholders
What You’ll Work With
You’ll be hands-on across modern Azure tooling including:
- Azure Private Endpoints and private networking
- IAM: managed identities, RBAC, conditional access
- Terraform modules, state management, and IaC pipelines
- Production workloads across Azure PaaS services such as Service Fabric Clusters, CosmosDB, Event Hubs and SQL Managed Instance
- Zero Trust architectural patterns and security controls
- Change management processes and documentation (CAB submissions, runbooks, operational guides)
