Our client, an algorithmic trading hedge fund with a 25-year track record in systematic trading, is hiring a Senior SQL Server Engineer to join their trading desk tech team. It’s a 20-person business with roughly half the team in engineering and technical roles, so you’re in a genuinely tech-led environment where trading is fully programmatic and engineers work closely with the desk day to day.
You’ll be focused on their internal trading platform, specifically the dashboard that drives portfolio positions. You’ll be working alongside another engineer in the team and closely with the Chief Investment Strategist, with real ownership over how this part of the system develops.
The stack is SQL Server, C# and .NET 9 on Windows VMs in Azure, but this isn’t your typical SQL role. There’s no heavy ETL or pipeline work.
Instead, it’s a highly concurrent, real-time system where events can arrive in any order and still need to resolve correctly. The data volumes are relatively small, but the focus is on correctness and consistency, with a lot of the logic sitting in SQL stored procedures across both the database and application layers.

- Financial Services (buy-side, asset management, or trading environments preferred)
