DevOps Engineer (Contract) | Bulgaria | Python, GitHub Actions | Automation-First Tech Business
- Day rate: approximately €390 via your own limited company
- Location: Remote in Bulgaria, with 2 days per month in Sofia
- Contract length: 12 months
There’s a tech team in Sofia that has decided to stop doing things manually. They’re at the point where the processes that got them here are starting to slow them down, and they need someone to come in and fix that properly.
The role is about automation: identifying where the team is still relying on manual effort, designing better processes, and building the tooling to replace them. You’d also be expected to bring the rest of the team along with you - this isn’t a solo project tucked away in a corner. The goal is to change how the whole team thinks about how work gets done.
Two days a month in the Sofia office (you can do them back-to-back if the commute makes that easier). Everything else is remote.
What They’re Looking For:
- Python or GoLang - one is essential; Python preferred
- GitHub and GitHub Actions (CI/CD pipelines, automation workflows)
- A genuine DevOps mindset: you understand the culture and process, not just the tooling
- Ability to operate via your own limited company (EOOD or equivalent)
What You’ll Work With:
- Azure (useful working knowledge; not the central focus for this engagement)
- AI and LLM tooling - integrating agents and automated workflows into engineering pipelines
- Internal tooling and process automation across a lean, hands-on tech team
Nice to Haves:
- Production experience building or deploying AI agents
- Experience mentoring or upskilling a team on engineering and automation practices
- Background in platform engineering or developer productivity tooling
Why Join / Projects:
The remit is broad and deliberately so. They want someone to map where manual effort is slowing things down and start replacing those processes one by one with properly automated solutions. Alongside that, you’d be writing the playbook and teaching others to think the same way - so communication and patience matter as much as the technical ability.
The AI angle is real. They want to integrate LLM-based tooling into their pipelines and build lightweight agents that handle internal workflows. If you’ve been wanting to work on that in a production environment, not just as a side project, this is a good setup to do it in.
If this sounds like the kind of role you’ve been looking for, apply and I’ll give you a call.
