Azure Platform Engineer | Azure, Kubernetes, Argo CD | Platform Migration for a Global Business

  • Day rate: €390
  • Location: Sofia, 2 days per month in office
  • Contract length: 6 months with likelihood of extension

You'll take a global business off a platform it's actively retiring and onto Kubernetes, owning the migration end to end rather than picking up someone else's half-built plan. This is a contract role inside an established cloud engineering function, brought in to move production workloads off Azure Service Fabric and onto a modern container platform with GitOps deployment.

It's as much about landing changes cleanly as it is about the engineering. You'll plan the go-lives, walk senior stakeholders through them, and keep production stable while the estate shifts underneath you. If you like to sit in the dark and just write code, this isn't the one.

What They're Looking For:

  • Azure platform engineering across production environments
  • Platform migration experience: moving live workloads off legacy platforms
  • Comfortable planning and running go-lives
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication with senior teams

What You'll Work With:

  • Kubernetes (K8s)
  • Argo CD (GitOps deployment)
  • GitHub (source control and pipelines)
  • Azure PaaS: CosmosDB, Event Hubs, SQL Managed Instance

Nice to Haves:

  • Azure Service Fabric Clusters (the platform being retired, and rare to find)

Why Join / Projects:
This is a migration with a clear finish line and your name on it. You'll move a complex Azure estate off Service Fabric and onto Kubernetes, standing up GitOps deployment with Argo CD and GitHub as you go, for a business where the platform carries serious load at scale.

The visibility is high: you'll own the go-lives, brief the senior stakeholders who care about them, and be the person keeping production steady through the change. It suits an engineer who's as happy in a planning conversation as in a pull request, and who wants a defined piece of work they can point to at the end.

If migrations are your thing and you're happy owning the stakeholder side too, apply and I'll give you a call.
