My client is a renowned global FinTech that, over the last two decades, has earned a reputation for reliability, innovation, and customer-focused service.
With a strong presence in key financial hubs across the globe, including Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, my client serves over 2 million customers in over 100 countries. Their platform offers a wide array of trading products, from forex and commodities to indices and cryptocurrencies, catering to novice and experienced traders.
My client is looking for a seasoned Principal Engineer to join their UK team. The Principal Engineer will be responsible for driving the development of high-impact projects, assisting management and other senior technical leaders in creating strategic roadmaps and driving priorities while maintaining a hands-on mindset.
The right candidate will be a polyglot developer, with expertise in multiple languages, my client has a legacy codebase in Perl, Go and C. Specific coding language is not overly important, but someone coming in with knowledge of multiple languages and operating in a polyglot environment is.
My client operates a hybrid working structure and would expect you in their Reading office twice a week.
What you will do:
- Lead technical contributions to drive the organisation’s growth, maintain a hands-on approach and lead from the front.
- Develop future-proof software solutions, solve high-complexity technical challenges and lead architectural design.
- Innovate with architectural changes that address scaling and performance issues.
- Design roadmaps and strategies for key components and services, integrating them directly into existing systems.
- Establish coding standards, maintain technical documentation, and develop operational concepts and interfaces.
- Partner with executives to provide engineering expertise that informs strategic decisions.
What you will Bring:
- 15 years of engineering experience with demonstrated leadership in high-stakes technical projects.
- Proficiency in working within a polyglot environment, with hands-on experience in multiple programming languages and frameworks.
- Expertise in cloud technologies such as AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
- Proven skills in software development, with experience in front-end technologies and frameworks.
- Proven experience working in high-volume transaction environments, ideally within fintech or other data-intensive industries where scalability, security, and reliability are critical.
