Infrastructure Manager | People Management and Technical Leadership | Mission Critical SaaS
Are you an experienced leader in the realm of Infrastructure and managed services? Our client is seeking a dynamic individual to join their team as an Infrastructure Manager in Windsor, UK.
Our client powers some of the world's most important applications in healthcare, finance, and government. Our client is a privately held company headquartered in the United Kingdom & the USA, with offices worldwide, and their software products are used daily by millions of people in more than 100 countries worldwide with 200 people in the UK and 1,800 globally.
The role can be broken down into 70% people management and 30% hands-on technical leadership (see below tech stack). You will lead a team of passionate professionals, (9 permanent and 3 contractors) you'll foster a collaborative environment providing strategic guidance and hands-on technical direction.
You will be based in our client's new prestigious office, a short walk from Windsor train station, and due to the company's great culture and office buzz, you will be working in the office 3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the infrastructure team.
- Provide technical hands-on leadership and guidance to team members.
- Monitor service components for round-the-clock availability, capacity, and performance.
- Manage SLAs, taking necessary actions to address issues or negative trends.
- Maintain the 24x7 on-call rota.
- Recommend and implement improvement initiatives, with a focus on automation opportunities.
The core technical environment:
- Linux deployment and management experience with RHEL.
- Server management and troubleshooting experience with Cisco UCS Blades (40-50 physical servers).
- Cisco and F5 networking deployment and management experience with Cisco Nexus 7000/9000, ASA Firewalls, and DNS load balancers.
- Scripting skills (Shell, PowerShell, Bash).
- Puppet used for Automation - any other experience is good, i.e. Ansible, Chef.
- VMware 6 deployment and management experience (100s of virtual servers).
Experience & Qualifications:
- Proven experience managing an infrastructure team, in a production context such as Software as a Service (SaaS).
- Strong collaborative team management experience.
- Ideally coming from a strong technical background.
- Excellent vendor management, negotiation skills, and budget management experience.
- Familiarity with ITIL-based operational processes; experience with ISO20000, ISO27001, and ISO22301 is advantageous.
- Exceptional client and relationship management skills.
