DevOps Team Lead | Azure, Python, Windows & Linux | IT Security Software House
- 1 day per week in the office (near Victoria Station)
An opportunity to work for a super cool software house that develops security software, tooling and services to enterprise and large clients across the UK. You will be part of an organisation of 60 employees that has a great ‘family feel’ in a business that has been established for over 20 years.
This is a unique role! You will be the technical lead of a small team of 3 DevOps Engineers (one junior and two mid-level). It is an 80% hands-on technical position with the other 20% of your time leading the team and getting involved with strategy.
My client is looking for a self-starter with gumption who has the attitude of “if I don’t understand it, I’ll go away and learn it”. As the DevOps Team Lead in a smaller company, you will be making a huge impact on the team and organisation. Hence, you must have the confidence to be in a lead role and be able to influence the technical direction of the business.
Essential Skills:
- Python scripting – our client uses Python for IaC and CI/CD so it’s ESSENTIAL you have strong Python skills.
- Public Cloud – ideally Azure as our client is an Azure house but AWS or GCP are OK as it’s the principles we’re interested in here. There are lots of VMs and Storage inside Azure.
- Windows Server knowledge (virtualisation on VMWare).
- Linux (our client uses Ubuntu).
- Networking principles (CCNA level). TCP/IP, firewall rules etc.
- Active Directory / ADFS.
- PowerShell and Bash scripting.
- Docker or Kubernetes container deployment and administration (KoPs are in place at the moment but there are big K8s projects on the roadmap).
It will be nice if you have:
- Kubernetes AKS or EKS experience.
- Helm.
- Terraform.
- On-prem SharePoint exposure.
- OpenShift - our clients are getting into OpenShift so exposure here will be helpful. You will be involved with the design and build of infrastructure used in production along with helping the development teams with new infrastructure and solutions to support software release cycles.
- Cyber Security projects will be frequent.
Core duties:
- Improve the CI/CD pipelines and processes along with code review.
- Have the relationship between both the business and technical teams i.e. the “DevOps culture piece”.
- Design and implement technical environments to support product development and deployment.
- Managing a small DevOps team.
Projects:
- Citrix test environment.
- Kubernetes programme. Looking at AKS along with either Helm or Terraform – this will be your project to lead.
- OpenShift – using this more and more.
- Lots more!
