Cloud Engineer | Public Cloud, VMware, Windows and Linux | SaaS HealthTech
This is one of those *awesome* opportunities. Our client is a global SaaS HealthTech with a footprint in every major continent (15,000 employees). They are looking to establish a new Cloud team in the UK to support their platform that their SaaS application will sit on top of that will service their UK customers. You will be working as part of an enterprise business but have the fun culture and feel of building a 'mini start-up' inside a mature business.
The local headcount currently is 35 in Ireland and 45 in the UK (remote sys admins, tech engineers, field engineers, project managers, programme managers and sales) and expanding the UK office - feels like a start-up with start-up good energy.
They are looking to build out the Irish operations of their Enterprise Imaging solutions and are looking for an experienced Cloud / Infrastructure Engineer to join the team.
As the Cloud Engineer, you will be involved in supporting and modernising a large-scale private-cloud platform whilst upholding the principles of Cloud SRE and taking the platform on a journey to modern principles & practices.
You will be joining a team of 4 so bringing the best way to do things by combining your own experience and best practices is key. You will need to be someone happy to understand the full application stack including its operations and strive to always help it evolve.
Absolute essentials / non-negotiables for the role:
- Windows Server 60%
- Linux 40%
- VMWare
- Any Public Cloud (AWS or GCP or Azure)

- Monitoring experience
Tech Stack:
- Google Cloud (GCP) is our client's cloud provider of choice.
- Google’s Cloud Operations Suite
- Windows Server and Linux
- VMWare vSphere, SimpliVity, HPE & 3PAR, F5.
- Terraform for infrastructure and systems building.
- Gitlab for our ‘Source Control’ management solution.
- OpenTelemetry, FluentBit, Squid
- Bash / PowerShell for scripting
Duties:
- Have experience in the administration and building of infrastructure public clouds such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
- Be comfortable working with and supporting traditional infrastructure stacks such as VMWare, HPE Technologies, 3PAR, Cisco, F5
- Have good Linux experience
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and configuration management tools.
- Strong Windows server administration, Group Policy and Active Directory
- Be comfortable working with Linux CLI and have experience with Linux or/and Windows OS configuration and management.
- Experience in working with modern monitoring and dash-boarding solutions like Prometheus, Grafana, Stackdriver
