Application Implementation Consultant | SQL | BioTech Software

Our client is a Software House based in London that specialises in developing Software as a Service (SaaS) and locally installed software products specifically for life science laboratories. Their products are used by most of the top global 20 biopharmaceutical companies and they are the market leaders in their space.

They are currently seeking an application consultant who will be responsible for application installs, supporting projects and working with customers globally. You will be working with external customers and our client's internal project management and leadership team.

The company has around 160 employees and has offices globally with their HQ being based in London. You will be reporting to the Head of Professional Services and working in a team of circa 30 other Application Consultants split into three teams.

The office is located on a lively and trendy street, just a short walk from London Bridge, SE1 and it will be expected for you to work in a hybrid capacity with the expectation for you to visit the office 1-2 times a week. There may be a very occasional requirement to travel to customer offices but this will maybe be once or twice a year and all expenses will be covered.

For success in this role, you must have SQL experience (any SQL Server, Oracle SQL, MySQL etc will be okay). SQL scripting skills are required to configure our client's software application databases which sit in Oracle databases and they integrate with other applications used by their customers, such as robotic automation systems, liquid handlers, automated stores etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Software installations and upgrades, integration testing, and troubleshooting of the software with the clients' hardware i.e. laboratory liquid handlers, automated stores, etc.
  • Gain a broad knowledge of the functionality and detailed workings of the software product suite
  • Work closely with the Business Analysts to understand requirements and document the required configuration required for the software
  • Implement new software updates, largely via Oracle database configuration
  • Develop and deliver customer training
  • Guide customers on migrating existing data into the application

Essential skills:

  • Previous application support/software implementation experience
  • Proficient in relational database systems and writing SQL (ideally Oracle)
  • 2 years of experience in software support/implementation or project role of customer data management or software solutions
  • Strong customer relationship skills
  • Make suggestions for solutions/workarounds and improvements to the software
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with a variety of 3rd party software and hardware systems
  • Excellent internal and external verbal and written communication skills

Nice to have:

  • Degree-level education in a numerate discipline
  • Experience in the Life Sciences / BioTech / Pharma industries.
  • Familiarity with the implementation and configuration of lab automation systems, e.g. robotic liquid handlers, automated stores, tube/rack scanners, and electronic balances are very helpful but not essential
  • Familiarity with sample management operations and systems
  • You will be given intensive training and even basic chemistry training in this role so it's not essential to have biotech/life sciences experience but it will be really helpful if you do!

Benefits:

  • 25 days of annual leave
  • Hybrid with the expectation to come to the office 1-2 times a week (London Bridge)
  • Some flexibility in working hours - core working hours are 10am - 4pm but you can make up your time around these hours
  • Pension scheme
  • Flexible holiday allowance
  • Cycle scheme
  • Regular social events

Such an exciting opportunity! Apply ASAP for the best chance of success as this is an urgent role.
